London, United Kingdom- Arriva Slovenia., has been awarded a renewed and expanded contract to run the regional public transport services across large parts of the country in an agreement that will see Arriva growing its market share by more than four percent for its regional bus operations.

The new deal, which is the single largest bus contract ever issued in Slovenia, will serve the Slovenian regions of Gorenjska in the north, Podravska in the north-east, Osrednjeslovenska in the center, and Obalno-kraka in the west.

The new agreement has a five-year term that begins on July 1, 2024, and it includes an option to be extended for an additional three years. It is estimated to be worth €274 million.  Over 24 million driven kilometers, an increase of 8% over the previous driven kilometers, are what Arriva expects to run roughly 300 vehicles on.  The operations of Arriva will be supported by about 750 workers.

Sian Leydon, Arriva Group Managing Director for Mainland Europe said, “This is a fantastic win for our team in Slovenia.  Being awarded the largest single bus contract ever is something to be incredibly proud of and is testament to our excellent reputation and the success of our business in Slovenia.  We have a strong track-record of delivering reliable and sustainable bus travel throughout the country and I’m proud of the team and what has been achieved.  We can now look to the future with confidence in Slovenia.”

With regional bus lines accounting for 85% of its business there, Arriva Slovenia's entire operations in the nation are heavily reliant on them.  This contract win will give Arriva's staff much-needed stability, and it will reassure its customers who have grown to rely on Arriva's reliable services and global expertise.
