Gurugram - BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new M 1000 XR in India, priced at Rs 45 lakh as a completely built unit (CBU). This is the third dedicated M model in BMW's lineup, joining after that M 1000 RR and M 1000 R. The M 1000 R is most potent crossover motorcycle ever, boasting a more powerful engine, a host of M components, lightweight materials, advanced electronics, and the distinctive M livery.

Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW M 1000 XR is an M bike through and through. It embodies everything that the most powerful letter in the world stands for: leadership, supremacy and playful, effortless dominance. This bike successfully completes the equation for an incomparable riding experience of M-like performance and XR-like long-distance capability. The all-new M XR maximizes everything - your riding experience, your endurance and, whenever you want, your adrenaline.”

BMW M 1000 XR: Design

The M 1000 XR, reminiscent of the S 1000 XR, showcases a more aggressive and sportier design. It introduces new M winglets for enhanced high-speed stability, along with a smoked windscreen, split LED headlights with daytime running lights reminiscent of BMW's flagship model. Additionally, it features bar-end mirrors and debuts two new paint schemes: Blackstorm Metallic and Light White (M Motorsport color scheme).
The M 1000 XR components made of carbon fiber such as wheels, rear wheel cover with integrated chain guard, side panels, front wheel cover, inner cover, ignition cover, and MGPS Lap Trigger (unlock code). Additionally, it features adjustable foot pegs for both the rider and pillion. Despite the M 1000 XR weighing 223kg (DIN empty), the M Competition package trims its weight by 3kg.

The suspension setup of the M 1000 XR features fully adjustable 45mm upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by dual 320mm discs at the front and a single 265mm disc at the rear. The bike rides on 120/70 ZR17 front and 200/55 ZR17 rear tires.

BMW M 1000 XR: Engine and Performance

The M 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, delivering 201PS (31PS more than the S 1000 XR) at 12,750rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm, with a rev limit of 14,600rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

BMW has also fine-tuned the gear ratios for the M 1000 XR, along with fitting it with larger 47-teeth sprocket compared to the 45-teeth unit on the S 1000 XR. This adjustment enhances acceleration, enabling the M 1000 XR to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.2 seconds and to 200kmph in 7.4 seconds. The bike boasts a top speed of 280kmph.
