Gestamp partners with Acciaieria Arvedi for Low-Emissions Steel

They partnering to provide OEMs with low-emission steel components using recycled ARVZERO steel, supporting sustainability and decarbonization.

Madrid, Spain- Gestamp Automoción S.A., a manufacture of metal components for the automotive industry, and Italian steel producer Acciaieria Arvedi S.p.A. have partnered to supply OEMs with sustainably produced, low-emission steel components. These will be made using Arvedi's carbon-neutral certified ARVZERO steel, sourced from high-quality scrap. 

Gestamp has teamed up with Acciaieria Arvedi to enhance its sustainable supply chain. Arvedi's innovative technology produces steel from recycled scrap, reducing CO2 emissions using renewable energy. This partnership promotes circularity and decarbonization, with Gestamp returning steel scrap to Arvedi for reprocessing. This initiative supports Gestamp's circular economy model and ensures high-quality, low-emission steel for automotive parts. 

Mr.  Javier Imaz, Chief Purchasing Officer at Gestamp, said, “With this agreement, we continue our circular economy roadmap in line with Gestamp´s ESG strategy, especially in terms of decarbonization in the production of automotive components through the usage of low-emissions ARVZERO steel coming from high-quality scrap.” 

Mr. Fabio Baldrighi, Vice President at Acciaieria Arvedi, said, "Our collaboration represents an important step for steel products with a sustainable supply chain. The cooperation agreement for the supply of sustainable steel from Italy under the name ARVZERO, will enable the use of this low-emissions steel in Gestamp sites with flat product processing.
