Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 completes testing in Spain

Andalusia, Spain- Daimler truck AG., has successfully completed testing the battery-powered Mercedes Benz eActros 600 for long-distance hauling during the summer. Test engineers put the electric truck through its paces for around five weeks in southern Spain's Andalusia region, where maximum temperatures can reach 44 degrees Celsius. The testing included a wide range of topics, including the effectiveness of the air conditioning system in hot conditions, the efficiency of the electric drivetrain, battery thermal management, and measures of charging times at rapid charging stations. A prototype also successfully completed the almost 2,000-kilometer return trip from Granada to the Mercedes-Benz Trucks research and testing facility in Wörth am Rhein via Valencia, Barcelona, Montpellier, and Lyon after the tests were over.

The eActros 600 will celebrate its world premiere on October 10 2023 and the vehicle is anticipated to be prepared for mass production from 2024.

Dr. Konrad Götz, Deputy Head of Global Testing Mercedes-Benz Trucks said, “We have subjected the eActros 600 to rigorous testing procedures since last year. After winter testing in Finland in freezing cold temperatures down to minus 25 degrees Celsius and initial tests on public roads, the electric truck now had to prove itself at over 40 degrees Celsius in Spain. The eActros 600 mastered the challenging tests with ease. In the next step, we're now looking forward to testing in real-life operation with our customers.”
