Sweden, Germany- Scania CV AB., has launched Erinion, a new company focused on private and semi-public charging solutions. They plan to install 40,000 charging points at customer locations, aiming to boost electric truck adoption and support Scania's goal of 50% electric sales in Europe by 2030. Erinion will offer depot and destination charging solutions to facilitate the transition to zero-emission fleets, emphasizing premium uptime for customers.

Depot and destination charging are essential for electric truck operations, offering dedicated charging infrastructure at customer locations. They ensure predictable charging schedules, increase uptime, and optimize operational efficiency with tailored solutions. These methods also lead to cost savings through stable energy costs and optimized charging power levels. Scania's research indicates potential savings of up to 50% in investment needs and up to 15,000 Euros per truck annually in operational costs.

Erinion, Scania's new venture, offers advanced depot charging solutions beyond just hardware installation. With integrated software and operational services, they provide customized solutions for electric truck customers. Initially focusing on select European markets, Erinion plans a global expansion. Their brand-agnostic approach ensures all businesses can benefit, aiming to install 40,000 charging points by 2030 to support the projected 230,000 electric trucks on European roads.

Mr. Jonas Hernlund, Head of Energy and Infrastructure at Scania Group, said “With our solution, customers get peace of mind and can focus on their core business, while a specialised charging unit takes care of the hardware, software, financing and operational services required to operate charging at scale with superior quality and cost efficiency.”

Mr. Gustaf Sundell, Executive Vice President and Head of Ventures and New Business, Scania Group, said “In the transition, the transport system will be redefined. Our new depot charging solutions company is a great example of an initiative that will play an important role for our customers in the future transport ecosystem when transitioning to electric transports.”
