Schmitz Cargobull collaborates with Berger Fahrzeugtechnik

Tyrol, Austria- Berger Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH., a truck and trailer manufacture, have signed an agreement with Schmitz Cargobull AG., supplier of semi-trailers, trailers and bodies from Münsterland-Germany, will acquire a 49 per cent share in Berger Fahrzeugtechnik. The companies intend to pool their expertise to offer sustainable and efficient transport solutions in Europe. The transaction is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities.

Mr. Gerhard Berger, owner of Berger Fahrzeugtechnik, said that, “Their cooperation with Schmitz Cargobull is advantageous to both parties. As a leading provider of high-end light construction vehicles in a highly specific industry in Europe, Berger Fahrzeugtechnik assists its clients in achieving resource- and cost-effective transportation through payload optimization. We will have the possibility to market and advertise BergerEcotrail even more in the future thanks to our partnership with Schmitz Cargobull. Making use of the Schmitz Cargobull network in particular opens up a plethora of fresh opportunities for the growth of products, services and markets.”

Mr. Andreas Schmitz, CEO of Schmitz Cargobull, said that, New opportunities for product development are made possible by the strategic cooperation with Berger Fahrzeugtechnik. The BergerEcotrail vehicles will be offered through the Schmitz Cargobull network with the same services that are available for Schmitz Cargobull vehicles. 

Mr. Boris Billich, Member of the Management Board for Sales at Schmitz Cargobull, said that, “The Schmitz Cargobull service organization will be strengthened so that all services, including a full stock of spare parts for both product families, will be accessible throughout Europe.”

Both companies note that the transaction is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities. Berger Fahrzeugtechnik and Schmitz Cargobull are confident, however, that the partnership will take effect shortly and are convinced that the cooperation will have positive effects for their customers.
