ZF Produce millions Traxon transmission for Commercial Vehicle

Friedrichshafen, Germany-ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS)., achieved a major production milestone for its TraXon transmission system as the 1 millionth unit rolled off the assembly line at Friedrichshafen. Launched in 2014, ZF’s TraXon has achieved a strong reputation for efficiency and performance.

Mr. Winfried Gründler who heads the driveline systems product line for ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions division. said that, when it comes to transmission systems, TraXon sets the standards for commercial vehicles and off-highway applications. Manufacturing the millionth TraXon system is a proud achievement for our production team and is a statement to TraXon’s enduring appeal as a lightweight, robust and intelligent system.

Its design, dependability, and capacity for energy conservation, TraXon has developed an industry-leading reputation, making it an advantageous option for commercial vehicle owners in terms of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Long into the future, it will continue to offer fleet managers and vehicle manufacturers significant benefit.

It was only last year that TraXon reached the 500,000 unit milestone, and at that point, the transmission was nearly entirely produced in the main plant in Friedrichshafen. In order to fulfill the rising demand for effective systems from clients all over the world, production was expanded globally to ZF's plants in Jiaxing (China) and Sorocaba (Brazil) in just 18 months.

The industry has recognized TraXon innovative design and exceptional performance, and it has won numerous customer and media awards, including the Chinese Trustworthy Fuel Saving Transmission System Award 2023. TraXon has also received numerous awards from the readers of the German ETM publishing house for being the "Best Brand- CV Transmission."

ZF is preparing to introduce the TraXon 2, which will enter series production in 2024, building on the advanced technological level of the tried-and-true TraXon system. Additional advances in TraXon 2 will feature house-made mechatronics from ZF and a new electronic control system. Through exceptional computational power, the latter will enable new software features like cyber security and upgrades via mobile communications/WLAN, or so-called over-the-air updates.
