Langenthal, Switzerland - Ammann Group., a road construction equipment manufacturer, has introduced the ARR 1585-2, the latest model in its new generation of skid-steer trench rollers. The machine features 360° on-the-spot turning, advanced remote control, and high-performance compaction capabilities.
The ARR 1585-2 is equipped with four independent drive motors—one for each drum side—delivering exceptional traction, maneuverability, and skid-steer functionality. This allows precise operation in tight or challenging areas, improving productivity and reducing repositioning time. Its centralized vibratory system generates 75 kN of compaction force with an amplitude of 1.6 mm and a frequency of 33 Hz, ensuring uniform compaction in fewer passes. The roller is available in two working widths: a slim 640 mm for narrow trenches and an optional 850 mm for larger areas.
The machine’s four-motor drive system and reversible exciter rotation provide superior traction on soft, sloped, or muddy terrain. It achieves a gradeability of 30% and lateral stability of 25%. Operator safety and comfort are enhanced with an ergonomic remote-control system using infrared and 3D-LF technology, establishing a 2-meter safety zone around the machine. The remote features a 16-hour battery life and intuitive controls.
Powered by a water-cooled Kubota D1105 diesel engine delivering 15.6 kW (21 HP), the ARR 1585-2 meets EU Stage V and U.S. EPA Tier 4f standards. The engine design also reduces hydraulic oil volume by 62% compared with previous models, while wide-opening hoods simplify maintenance. Optional ACE (Ammann Compaction Expert) technology allows real-time monitoring of compaction progress, helping operators achieve target compaction efficiently while minimizing overcompaction.
The ARR 1585-2 combines agility, power, and safety, setting a new standard for trench roller performance.
