Chennai – Doosan Bobcat India Private Limited., a compact equipment manufacturer, has delivered the Bobcat S70 Skid Steer Loader and remarkable gains in productivity and safety during a recent demonstration at a lead smelting facility.
Traditionally, loading the lead mixture, made from recovered battery lead, soda ash, charcoal, and rolling mill waste, into the rotary furnace was a fully manual process that took around 45 minutes. With the introduction of the Bobcat S70, this time was cut to just 20 minutes, saving 25 minutes per cycle.
The time savings also brought operational benefits:
- Reduced burner idle time improved heating efficiency
- Lower natural gas consumption cut costs
- Less manual handling reduced physical strain on workers
Beyond furnace loading, the compact S70 proved its versatility by supporting battery dismantling with a breaker attachment and improving scrap handling with a grappler attachment. It now contributes across several key areas, including battery breaking, material shifting, and mixing and loading operations.
Operators highlighted the S70’s combined advantages: faster cycle times, lower fuel use, safer conditions, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with a single machine.
The success of this deployment underlines Bobcat’s commitment to innovative, compact equipment tailored for complex industrial environments. Manufactured in Bobcat’s modern 21-acre facility near Chennai, the S70 Skid Steer Loader is part of a broader lineup of equipment designed for both domestic and export markets.
