St. Valentin, Austria - Case IH., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has unveiled its new C500 Series corn headers, designed to increase feeding performance, throughput and overall work rate for European growers harvesting corn in 75-cm rows. Fully compatible with all Axial-Flow and AF series combines, the C500 range includes the largest corn header ever offered by Case IH in Europe.
The line-up features the C512-75 with 12 rows, alongside the new C516-75 — Case IH’s first 16-row header for 75-cm row spacing. Developed specifically to match the capacity of the latest AF series combines, the C516-75 combines high output with a significantly reduced picking unit weight. Simplified maintenance and reduced downtime further improve productivity in demanding harvest conditions.
Key updates across the C500 range include new dual-action deck plates that can be adjusted hydraulically from the cab, allowing operators to quickly respond to changing crop conditions while minimizing losses. A newly designed row unit enhances picking efficiency and improves crop flow.
To handle high crop volumes, the C500 headers feature the industry’s largest-diameter cross auger, with a 60-cm flighting diameter and 62.5-cm pitch, ensuring smooth and consistent feeding. A dual driveline separates power delivery to the row unit and the integral chopper, reducing stress on individual components, improving power management, and enhancing overload protection.
An advanced monitoring system adds further protection, using sensors on the main toolbar to detect slip clutch activation in both the chopper and row units. Operators receive instant in-cab alerts, helping prevent damage and unplanned downtime.
Mr. Andreas Saile, European Business Marketing Manager Crop Harvesting at Case IH, said, “New C500 headers are the answer to maximizing output from the largest Axial-Flow and AF combines for growers harvesting corn in 75-cm rows. This combination of features boosts harvest performance, reduces downtime, and lowers the total cost of ownership for the complete combine package.”
