Vermeer’s PD25R pile driver offers 25-ft pile-driving capability and advanced automation, delivering unmatched efficiency for solar Field installation projects.
Date: November 8, 2024Lowa- United States- Vermeer Corporation., a manufacturer of industrial and agricultural machines, has unveils the PD25R pile driver, engineered to meet the evolving demands of the growing solar market. This new model features a 25-ft (7.6-m) pile driving capability, allowing solar contractors to install longer piles for larger solar arrays and on varied terrain. The PD25R's extended reach enables contractors to adapt to changing project requirements and site conditions for optimal productivity in solar field construction.
Mr. Ed Savage, product manager at Vermeer. “The PD25R represents a significant advancement in pile-driving technology. We’ve incorporated 12 years of customer feedback to create a machine that offers greater flexibility, capacity and optimized performance.”
The Vermeer PD25R pile driver, powered by a 74-hp Tier 4 engine, offers excellent performance with impressive hydraulic power and a 2.5 mph transport speed. Its telescoping mast and rotating upper half eliminate the need for assembly, reducing setup and teardown time. Capable of driving piles up to 25 feet, it is ideal for diverse projects like solar arrays and battery storage systems, boosting efficiency and flexibility for contractors.
The Vermeer PD25R pile driver is designed for automation with features like auto plumb, auto home, and GPS system compatibility. These enhance accuracy and ease of use, reducing training time for new operators. Its advanced diagnostics and telematics connectivity provide real-time insights into machine performance, optimizing uptime and reducing maintenance challenges. Ideal for contractors, this technology streamlines operations and addresses labor shortages.
The Vermeer PD25R offers enhanced maneuverability with rubber tracks and a low ground pressure of just 5.7 PSI, minimizing ground disturbance and enabling work in various weather conditions. Its compact design ensures exceptional adaptability to diverse jobsites. Safety features include automatic stop, tracking speed control, and bump bars for automation systems, ensuring smooth, secure operations.
Vermeer is also introducing new row-to-row technology as an available option on the PD25R pile driver, enhancing automation in solar installations.
“With the optional row-to-row technology, operators no longer need to manually pivot or turn the machine into the next row,” Savage explained. “This technology means less room for operator error during the installation process and can lead to optimized training for beginner operators. For solar contractors who opt for this feature, it translates to faster installation times and improved overall project effectiveness.”
The Vermeer PD25R pile driver features an advanced row-to-row system that uses GPS to locate waypoints for precise, consistent installation. When paired with the Vermeer point-to-point system, it offers comprehensive machine navigation across solar fields with minimal operator input. This level of automation accelerates installation while ensuring high accuracy, reducing costly rework, and enhancing the quality of solar field construction. With its optional automation technologies, the PD25R provides solar contractors with a powerful solution to maximize output, streamline operations, and address labor challenges in pile installation.
