BYD and Uber Partner to Deploy 100,000 EVs Worldwide

United States- BYD Auto Co., Ltd., the manufactures of passenger battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Uber Technologies Inc. This collaboration is set to introduce 100,000 BYD electric vehicles to the Uber platform in key global markets.

Beginning first in Europe and Latin America, the partnership is expected to offer drivers access to best-in-class pricing and financing for BYD vehicles on the Uber platform and will expand to include markets across the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Their collaboration aims to reduce the overall cost of EV ownership for Uber drivers, speed up the adoption of EVs across the Uber platform worldwide, and offer millions of riders a more environmentally friendly transportation option and also promote the adoption of electric vehicles, companies might work together to offer a range of benefits, including discounts on charging, vehicle maintenance, or insurance, as well as financing and leasing deals. The two companies will work together on developing future BYD autonomous vehicles technology, which will be used on the Uber platform. As the largest on-demand mobility and delivery service, Uber is ideally situated to introduce autonomous vehicle technology to a global market on a large scale.

Many riders also tell us their first experience with an EV is on an Uber trip, and we’re excited to help demonstrate the benefits of EVs to more people around the world.”
