Iwata, Japan- Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of two new electric scooters for the Indian market in November 2025: the AEROX E electric sport scooter and the EC-06 electric scooter, developed in collaboration with River Mobility Private Limited.
The AEROX E is a high value-added electric sport scooter created in-house by Yamaha as part of its premium segment strategy for ASEAN and other emerging markets under its Medium-Term Management Plan. Building on the strong reputation of the petrol-powered AEROX 155 in India, the AEROX E brings the same sporty riding character and distinctive Yamaha styling in an all-electric package. With this model, Yamaha aims to further strengthen its premium brand image in India’s EV space. Production of the AEROX E will be carried out by India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.
The EC-06 electric scooter is based on an existing production model from River Mobility and is designed to appeal to a wider audience. With a “Stylish & Cool” design theme, it targets customers with active, urban lifestyles who want a practical yet fashionable EV for daily use. River Mobility will be responsible for manufacturing the EC-06.
Yamaha Motor invested in River in January 2024 and has since been working with the company to explore collaboration opportunities in India’s EV segment. The EC-06 marks the first product to result from this partnership.
These launches also tie into Yamaha Motor’s broader environmental commitments. The company has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality in Scope 3 Category 11 emissions (those generated during product use) by 2050 through a multi-pathway approach. Introducing the AEROX E and EC-06 into the Indian market is one of the initiatives contributing to that long-term sustainability objective.
