Punjab - Swaraj Tractors., has strengthened its manufacturing capabilities with a new advanced tractor plant and upgraded foundry facility in Mohali. The development is aimed at improving product quality, production efficiency, sustainability, and delivery timelines.
Spread across 42 acres, the facility includes a 25-acre manufacturing area and nearly 70,000 square metres of green space. It is expected to produce more than 50,000 tractors annually.
The modernised foundry will support the production of more precise and durable cast components, helping improve tractor strength, reliability, and performance. The plant also uses special-purpose assembly machines, electric fastening tools, flush-to-floor conveyors, engine docking systems, and centralised oil filtration.
Swaraj has introduced a flexible multi-model assembly line that allows different tractor models to be produced without lengthy setup changes. Improved paint-shop processes, vertical storage systems, and automated filling equipment are expected to reduce costs and shorten delivery times.
The facility also focuses on workforce inclusion, with women accounting for around 25% of employees. Ergonomic workstations and customised material-handling equipment have been introduced for employees with disabilities.
Sustainability measures include a wastewater treatment plant with membrane filtration and two-stage reverse osmosis, enabling water reuse. Automated systems also monitor electricity, water, fuel, and compressed-air consumption to improve energy efficiency.
The new plant and foundry are expected to support Swaraj’s future growth while improving the quality, durability, comfort, and reliability of its tractors.
