Philippines- Geely Riddara has introduced the RD6 Econ, an all-electric pickup positioned as a cost-effective, dual-use vehicle for both commercial work and everyday personal needs. The model has launched in the Philippines, with planned rollouts to Thailand, Malaysia, and Pakistan, as the brand expands its presence in key global pickup markets.
The “Econ” name comes from “Economic,” reflecting the vehicle’s focus on being eco-friendly, efficient, and economical. Designed primarily for commercial use while still meeting family and lifestyle requirements, the RD6 Econ is presented as an alternative to traditional fuel pickups by addressing common pain points such as high running costs, slower response, and heavier maintenance demands.
A major highlight is operating cost efficiency. Geely Riddara claims the RD6 Econ delivers significantly lower energy and maintenance costs than ICE pickups, with measured consumption as low as 16.2 kWh/100 km. Performance is also emphasized, with a 4WD system producing up to 280 kW and 485 N·m of peak torque, aimed at providing confident capability on steep climbs and rough terrain.
For utility-focused users, the RD6 Econ features a 1,765 mm truck bed and a payload capacity of 1,235 kg. The bed includes STC surface treatment to improve wear resistance and corrosion protection targeting durability needs in humid and coastal conditions. Maneuverability is another key selling point, supported by a 6.1 m minimum turning radius, which the company says is tighter than many mainstream ICE pickups, while the quieter EV cabin is intended to improve long-distance comfort.
Safety and durability are supported by an integrated body structure made with 70% high-strength steel, 30,300 N·m/deg torsional stiffness, and 225 mm ground clearance to handle potholes, gravel roads, and job-site conditions.
Geely Riddara says it has been China’s No. 1 NEV pickup brand for three consecutive years, and is using that momentum to build a broader product strategy. Alongside the RD6 Econ (BEV), the company is offering an RD6 PHEV, creating a “BEV + PHEV” lineup aimed at Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The brand says this approach will expand options for value-driven commercial customers and help accelerate the electrification of regional pickup markets.
Supporting its “tech-driven, scenario-defined” strategy, Geely Riddara also plans to pair the lineup with localized energy and service solutions designed to reduce energy use and improve total cost of ownership positioning the RD6 Econ as a practical EV choice for fleets, businesses, and everyday users.
