UK - McLaren Automotive, a manufacture of ultra-high performance supercars has officially designated Atlas Copco as its ‘Official Smart Tooling Supplier.’ Atlas Copco, an advanced industrial assembly tools and software solutions, will now play a key role in enhancing McLaren's production capabilities.
Across the production line, new technologies provided by Atlas Copco have been integrated into McLaren’s devices and operating systems, enabling seamless integration with existing production infrastructure.
McLaren has deployed more than 150 of Atlas Copco’s advanced battery-powered digital tools, featuring the ITB and SRB ranges. These 5G-capable, wireless tools are linked to the latest Power Focus 8 controller from Atlas Copco, which can handle up to 20 tools simultaneously. This integration creates a highly connected and space-efficient production environment for McLaren.
Real-time data insights from Atlas Copco’s Smart Integrated Assembly portfolio harness artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learnings to identify risks in production before they occur.
Furthermore, the partnership will facilitate the automation of McLaren’s bodyshell adhesive application processes. By utilizing Atlas Copco’s advanced joining and vision technologies—including the high-precision SCA adhesive dispensing system and the 3D laser profiling RTVision quality inspection system and McLaren can significantly improve efficiency and accuracy throughout each stage of assembly.
