Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar - The Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, jointly organized by the Agricultural Mechanization Department and the Myanmar Agricultural Machinery Entrepreneurs Association, officially opened at the Agriculture and Livestock Institute (Pyinmana) in Nay Pyi Taw.

The opening ceremony was attended by Union Ministers Dr Kan Zaw, Dr Wah Wah Maung, U Min Naung, U Hla Moe, U Ko Ko Lwin and Dr Charlie Than, along with Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo, deputy ministers, council members, permanent secretaries, directors-general, agricultural machinery entrepreneurs, farmers and other officials.

Farmers in Myanmar owned 43,939 tractors, 462,627 power-tillers, 158 rice transplanters, 610 manual rice transplanters, 37,467 hand-held seeders, 13,211 combine harvesters and 2,110 rice dryers. While mechanization has made progress in land preparation and rice harvesting, the use of machinery in other farming stages—such as planting, crop management, harvesting of non-rice crops and crop drying—remains limited, highlighting the need for further investment to achieve full mechanization.

The exhibition features a wide range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, combine harvesters, rice transplanters, seeders, bean harvesters, power-tillers, grass cutters, sprayers, engines, rice mills, solar-powered pumps, crop dryers, trailers and tractor-mounted implements. Farmers can examine the equipment in detail, attend live demonstrations and access sales services, including affordable pricing and instalment-based purchase options.

During the event, Farmers Choice Tractor Co Ltd donated two Sonalika tractors with trailers, Myanmar Empire Co Ltd contributed a Belarus-manufactured tractor with a trailer, and Mandalar Shwe Thiha Co Ltd donated a Sonalika 90 HP tractor along with a locally manufactured front dozer. Certificates of honour were presented in recognition of these contributions.

Following the opening ceremony, Union ministers and officials toured the exhibition halls and observed live demonstrations of ploughing and cultivation using the displayed machinery.
