New Delhi — Bajaj Auto, has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of the Chetak 3503, priced at ₹1.10 lakh (~$1,320 USD, ex-showroom). This new variant, part of the Chetak 35 series, is now the most affordable option in the company’s EV line-up. It shares the same platform and battery as the higher-priced models but comes with a more basic feature set to keep costs in check.
The Chetak 3503 is powered by a 3.5kWh battery offering a claimed range of 155 km. Despite being a lower-cost option, it retains premium elements such as a full-metal body, 35-litre under-seat storage, Eco and Sport riding modes, hill-hold assist, and a color LCD display with basic Bluetooth functionality.
To offer a more budget-friendly price point, the 3503 excludes certain features found in its siblings. These include a lower top speed of 63 km/h, front drum brakes instead of disc brakes, no sequential indicators, and a slightly longer charging time—80% charge in 3 hours and 25 minutes.
The Chetak 3503 is priced below the Chetak 3502 (₹1.22 lakh / ~$1,460 USD) and 3501 (₹1.30 lakh / ~$1,560 USD). Meanwhile, the Chetak 2903 remains the entry-level variant at ₹98,498 (~$1,180 USD), with a 2.9kWh battery and a claimed 123 km range. Key competitors in this price and performance bracket include the Ather Rizta S, Ola S1 X+, and TVS iQube 3.4.
Strong Market Performance in FY2025
The launch coincides with a record-breaking fiscal year for Bajaj Auto’s electric division. The company sold 2,30,808 units of the Chetak in FY2025, marking a 116% year-on-year growth compared to FY2024’s 1,06,624 units. This is the first time Bajaj has crossed the 2-lakh mark in annual electric two-wheeler sales.
Thanks to this momentum, Bajaj Auto doubled its market share in India’s electric two-wheeler segment to 20%, up from 11% in FY2024. The company also achieved No. 1 OEM status in the e-2W space for three months—December 2024, February 2025, and March 2025, peaking with 34,907 units sold in March.
By the end of FY2025, Bajaj Auto trailed TVS Motor Co. by just 6,768 units, a significant narrowing from the 76,565-unit gap in FY2024—highlighting the intensifying competition in India's electric mobility sector.
