Boppard, Germany – BOMAG GmbH., a construction machinery manufacturer, introduces the BW 177 BVO-5 PL single-drum roller in its Performance Line, offering contractors three compaction modes, fuel savings, and advanced oscillation and compaction technology.
The BW 177 BVO-5 PL features a 66.5-inch-wide drum, delivering up to 968 cubic yards of compaction output per hour. It offers a 140.8-pound-per-inch static linear load and 33,720 pounds of centrifugal force, suitable for lift thicknesses of up to 31.5 inches for rock fill, 19.7 inches for gravel, and 15.7 inches for mixed soils.
The BW 177 BVO-5 PL’s drum keeps the engine in an optimal rpm range in Ecomode, offering up to 30% fuel savings. Optional Ecostop tech turns off the engine after idle time. The dual-pump system and self-locking differential enable 60% gradability, with a single lever controlling forward/reverse up to 10 mph.
The BW 177 BVO’s three compaction modes: high and low amplitudes, plus oscillation, are easily controlled by a single rotary dial for quick adjustments. Its 12-degree oscillation in the articulating joint ensures constant contact with material, even in poor underfoot conditions.
The BW 177 BVO’s oscillation technology handles challenging granular and mixed soil, including backfill over pipelines. An optional padfoot kit for silt and clay is available. It also features BOMAG Terrameter for real-time material stiffness and Bomap for real-time compaction monitoring, improving efficiency and reducing unnecessary passes.
The BW 177 BVO offers easy on-the-job repairs with no lubrication points on the roller, ground-level access to the dipstick, filter, and filling points, and the ability to replace drum rubber vibration isolation buffers without frame disassembly.
