Zhengzhou, China- BYD has inaugurated its first all-terrain circuit for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in Zhengzhou, with additional facilities planned in Hefei and Shaoxing. The circuit reflects BYD’s vision of “Technology for All,” combining professional racing, driver training, and diverse experience zones to promote NEV culture.
The Zhengzhou facility features eight unique zones: an indoor sand dune, low-friction ring, kick plate, water-crossing pool, dynamic paddock, race track, off-road park, and camping area. Highlights include a Guinness-certified indoor sand dune (29.6 m drop, 28° slope, built with 6,200 tons of desert-grade sand), a 70 m water pool for the YANGWANG U8 with underwater observation, and China’s first low-friction drift circle, enabling controlled drifting with BYD’s intelligent systems.
The 1.76 km race track, 15,300 m² paddock, and 27 off-road scenarios cater to both professionals and enthusiasts, offering experiences from slalom and moose tests to advanced off-roading. Even entry-level SUVs can handle beginner courses with BYD’s all-wheel drive.
In partnership with the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF), BYD also launched the “New Track Scheme”, aiming to bring NEV racing culture to one million users and cultivate 100 professional racers.
Mr. Guojun Zhan, the president of CAMF, said, “BYD Circuits will accelerate the professionalization of China's NEV racing events and reshape China's automotive culture.”
The All-terrain circuits of BYD mark more than a collection of venues; they represent a reimagining of the NEV driving experience collectively. By making cutting-edge technologies, professional facilities, and extreme scenarios tangible and accessible, the circuits aim to break down barriers, serving both as a showcase for NEV innovations and a bridge to popularize NEV culture.
