Leinfelden-Echterdingen- Daimler Truck AG., is launching a semi-public TruckCharge charging network for battery-electric trucks. After pilots with Wessels (Rhede) and Diez (Dettingen unter Teck), rollout in Germany and Austria starts in Q1 2026, targeting 3,000+ fast chargers in Europe by 2030.

The concept of semi-public charging allows companies to open their depot charging points to external users during periods when the infrastructure is not needed for in-house operations. This model is designed to improve utilization, create new revenue streams for site operators, and help the industry build a denser, more accessible charging network for heavy-duty transport.

As the initiator of the TruckCharge network, Daimler Truck is bringing together key stakeholders and providing access to a Europe-wide platform that supports planning, booking, reserving, and paying for charging sessions. The technical and operational delivery is handled end-to-end by Spirii an Edenred company through its eMobility platform. This includes a Charge Point Management System (CPMS) for depot operators, an eMobility Service Provider (eMSP) solution for fleets, and a driver-facing charging app.

Mr. Alexander Müller, Head of Zero Emission Vehicle Business Solutions at Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said the semi-public approach offers clear value by combining the benefits of private charging infrastructure with better utilization and increased availability for the wider industry. He noted that the aim is to simplify the transition to electric mobility for freight forwarders and transport operators by reducing costs, enabling additional revenue opportunities, and speeding up the rollout of urgently needed charging capacity for heavy commercial vehicles.

Mr. Tore Harritshøj, CEO and co-founder of Spirii, highlighted that limited charging availability remains one of the biggest barriers to large-scale electrification in trucking. He welcomed Daimler Truck’s move to establish a semi-public network and said Spirii is proud to support the TruckCharge rollout with intelligent charging solutions to help accelerate the shift toward electric transport.
