Tirschenreuth, Germany – Hamm AG., a compaction equipment manufacturer has expanded its HC series with the introduction of the 13-ton HC 130i C VA compactor, featuring advanced variable amplitude (VA) technology and Smart Compaction for automatic adjustment to ground conditions. The new model complements the recently released 20- and 25-ton HC 200i C VA and HC 250i C VA machines.
The HC 130i C VA is equipped with a VA drum that automatically adapts compaction forces based on soil conditions and machine capacity, ensuring homogeneous compaction while reducing the need for double passes. This efficiency not only lowers diesel consumption but also enhances cost-effectiveness for construction projects. The compactor complies with EU Stage V and EPA Tier 4f emission standards.
Operators can select automatic or manual mode. In automatic mode, the system regulates amplitude based on a pre-set target compaction value in MN/m². In manual mode, drivers can choose from five fixed amplitude settings. The compaction process is guided by the Smart Compaction Value (SCV), which Hamm now continuously records with high precision, independent of driving speed, frequency, or travel direction.
The VA technology offers significant advantages for operators and contractors. Automatic amplitude adjustment prevents over-compaction and particle crushing, making it easier for even less experienced operators to achieve optimal results. Reduced double passes also lower diesel consumption, mechanical stress, and CO₂ emissions, while the system’s prevention of jump operation contributes to longer machine service life.
Hamm’s new HC 130i C VA compactor reinforces the company’s focus on efficiency, precision, and sustainability in modern construction compaction.
