Tokyo, Japan - Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., a construction machinery manufacturer, has announced the global release of its new EX5600-7P ultra-large hydraulic excavator in backhoe configuration. With an operating weight of 558 tonnes, the new model delivers a 12% increase in production capacity and enhanced structural durability, targeting the demanding mining market in Australia.
Since debuting its first ultra-large excavator, the UH50 (159t), in 1979, Hitachi Construction Machinery has built a strong reputation for productivity, reliability, and durability in global mining operations. The new EX5600-7P builds on this legacy, incorporating several key advancements designed to boost efficiency and uptime.
The EX5600-7P increases bucket capacity from 34 m³ to 37.5 m³, while upgrades to the Cummins QSKTA50-CE engine and hydraulic pump system improve operating speed and efficiency. These enhancements result in 12% higher production capacity and approximately 10% better fuel efficiency than the previous EX5600-7 model.
Durability has also been significantly improved through the expanded use of high-strength steel castings in the boom, as well as optimized structural design and welding methods in the arm and upper body frame. Additionally, new bolt-access inspection holes (patent pending) have been added to simplify internal boom inspections and maintenance.
The EX5600-7P is compatible with LANDCROS Connect Insight, Hitachi’s advanced data solution that monitors and analyzes machine performance in near-real time to help customers enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and optimize operations.
With the launch of the EX5600-7P, Hitachi Construction Machinery continues its commitment to developing high-performance, durable, and digitally connected mining equipment that supports customers in improving safety, productivity, and sustainability.
