Newnan, Georgia - Hitachi Construction Machinery., a construction machinery manufacturer, has introduced the ZX890LC-7H Bulk Excavation Configuration Excavator, designed for heavy-duty applications that require high productivity, strong digging power and precise attachment control.

The 85-metric-ton excavator is powered by a 510-horsepower Isuzu 6WG1 diesel engine producing 1,431 pound-feet of torque. The engine uses selective catalytic reduction and diesel oxidation catalyst aftertreatment without a diesel particulate filter, reducing DPF-related maintenance requirements.

The ZX890LC-7H is equipped with Hitachi’s HIOS V hydraulic system, supporting strong multifunction performance and smooth control during demanding operations. Its bulk excavation setup features a shorter 23-foot 4-inch boom and 9-foot 8-inch arm, both more than 4 feet shorter than the standard configuration. This geometry is designed to improve truck loading speed, reduce cycle times and support mass excavation work in mining, quarrying and large earthmoving projects.

According to Hitachi, the reinforced shorter boom and arm provide added strength for high-volume material handling and allow the machine to use larger buckets. The model displayed at ConExpo 2026 was fitted with a 10.4-cubic-yard AMI Xmor bucket.

The excavator also includes enhanced operator customization features, allowing users to fine-tune hydraulic flow and machine response for precision tasks. Operators can store settings for up to 16 attachment presets, improving efficiency when switching between tools.

Three selectable work modes — ECO, PWR and HP — allow operators to match machine output to jobsite needs. Auto idle and auto shutdown functions further support fuel efficiency and lower operating costs.

With its combination of power, reinforced digging equipment, large bucket capability and fine hydraulic control, the ZX890LC-7H is positioned for mining, quarrying, reclamation and bulk earthmoving applications where uptime and productivity are critical.
