Gurugram - Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the passenger car manufacturer has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service ownership model for the CRETA Electric, making the SUV easier to purchase with a lower upfront cost. Customers can now buy the CRETA Electric from ₹10.99 lakh (US$11,538) ex-showroom, along with a battery EMI starting at ₹3.9 (US$0.04) per km.

This move is aimed at reducing the high initial cost of EV ownership and encouraging faster electric vehicle adoption in India. Hyundai has also improved the CRETA Electric ownership experience by adding an integrated side foot step for easier entry and exit. Based on customer demand, the company will also offer a 7.4 kW wall box charger in the Home Charger variants, making home charging more convenient for customers.

Mr. Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said: “At HMIL, we believe the future of mobility must be accessible, intelligent and customer centric. The introduction of Battery-as-a-Service for the Hyundai CRETA Electric is a transformational step towards democratizing electric mobility in India. By significantly reducing the initial acquisition cost and offering flexible battery rental plans, we are enabling more customers to confidently transition to EVs while enjoying Hyundai’s trusted technology, safety and innovation.”

Built on the strong legacy of the CRETA brand and Hyundai’s proven battery management system, the Hyundai CRETA Electric combines SUV performance, advanced electric technology, connected features, comfort and safety.

The CRETA Electric offers up to 510 km ARAI-certified driving range and comes with two battery options: 51.4 kWh long-range and 42 kWh short-range. It supports DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes and features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing users to power external devices from the vehicle.

The SUV is equipped with several premium and future-ready features, including Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, Single Pedal Drive (i-Pedal), Digital Key access through smartphone or smartwatch, integrated side foot step, Active Air Flaps for improved cooling and aerodynamics, and an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty. The long-range CRETA Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

Hyundai has also demonstrated the real-world capability of the CRETA Electric through multiple test drives and record runs. Under the Hyundai Test Driven by 100 campaign, 100 creators drove the vehicle across 10 states, 26 cities and over 200 destinations, covering 15,000 km over more than 100 days. The campaign generated strong digital engagement with 526 million views and 35 million likes.

The CRETA Electric also achieved a national record in the India Book of Records by covering the maximum distance by an electric car in 24 hours, completing 1,326.5 km. During the same run, it also completed 1,000 km in just 18 hours and 31 minutes.

Hyundai Motor India is also strengthening India’s EV ecosystem by expanding its public charging network. The company plans to install nearly 600 fast public EV charging stations over the next seven years. It has already built charging infrastructure at 183 locations, with 214 DC chargers and 399 charging points. Through the myHyundai app, users can access the EV Charge feature to locate and use more than 10,000 EV charging points across India, supporting a more convenient EV ownership experience.
