The Department of Agriculture (DA) collaborated with the Italian government to enhance the agricultural machinery industry in the Philippines.
Date: October 21, 2024Italy, Europe - The Department of Agriculture (DA) partnered with the Italian government to develop the Philippine agricultural machineries industry. Italian firms to invest in smart agriculture technologies and irrigation systems to support the Philippines Agro-industrialization goals.
On October 16, 2024, during World Food Day in Rome, DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. met with Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida to discuss potential areas of cooperation
Mr. P. Tiu Laurel, Agriculture Secretary Francisco, said, “Italy’s agricultural machinery industry is world-class, and the Philippines can greatly benefit from this expertise as we modernize our agricultural sector”
The Department of Agriculture (DA), said, Mr. Laurel met with Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida to explore potential partnerships. The DA is seeking to sign a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing productivity and promoting agri-industrialization. Additionally, the DA is encouraging more Italian businesses to invest in the modernization of Philippine agriculture.
Mr. Laurel highlighted opportunities for Italian firms to engage in smart agriculture technology and irrigation projects. Additionally, the DA seeks a partnership with Italy’s National Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers to adapt machinery to the unique conditions in the Philippines.
