Savannah, Georgia – J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited., a construction and earthmoving equipment manufacturer, has been awarded a five-year, $45 million contract to provide its 4CX backhoe loaders, specialized attachments, and operator training to the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
This marks the second major deal between JCB and the Marine Corps, following a $39 million agreement for Multi Terrain Loaders, the militarized version of the JCB Teleskid.
Mr. Richard Fox-Marrs, President and CEO of JCB North America, said, “We’re proud that, after an extensive evaluation, the Marine Corps has once again selected JCB. We value this continued partnership and the confidence placed in our ability to deliver machines that meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.”
The JCB 4CX backhoe loader chosen for the contract is designed to meet tactical and job site demands. Its side-shift back end with Powerslide technology allows precise boom movement, expanding the digging envelope by 10% and enabling efficient operation in confined spaces or along walls without repositioning the machine. When stowed, the compact layout reduces overall transport length by more than 4 feet, offering a 21% space saving.
With equal-length boom and dipper arms, the 4CX delivers a digging depth of more than 14 feet and a swing reach exceeding 17 feet. An integrated lifting point in the tipping link further enhances versatility for material-handling tasks, making the machine well-suited for both construction and military applications.
