Tokyo, Japan - Komatsu Ltd., a heavy equipment manufacturer, plans to launch the PC158USLC-12 and PC158USLCi-12 tight tail swing excavators later in 2026, expanding its next-generation -12 lineup for the North American market.

Designed for urban construction, utilities and roadwork, the new excavators offer improved productivity, higher lift capacity, better hydraulic attachment flow and lower fuel consumption in a compact, transport-friendly design. The machines build on the legacy of the PC138USLC-11.

The PC158USLCi-12 will be Komatsu’s first tight-tail excavator with IMC 3.0, its latest factory-integrated intelligent machine control system, and will debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.

Both models feature a new electric hydraulic control system, a wider cab with improved comfort and visibility, an 8-inch touchscreen monitor, and the Komvision 360-degree monitoring system with human and object detection. Standard features also include 2D machine control, 2D boundary control, bucket payload monitoring and joystick travel.

The PC158USLCi-12 adds a 10.1-inch HD ICT monitor, 3D machine control, 3D boundary control, swing-to-line, travel-along-line, in-field design, auto swing, and enhanced payload monitoring.

Komatsu said the new excavators are designed to help operators work more accurately and efficiently in confined jobsites. Full specifications and availability will be announced closer to launch.
