Tokyo, Japan - Komatsu Ltd., a heavy equipment manufacturer, has introduced the all-new D175AX-10 large production dozer, marking the first model in its next-generation Dash-10 dozer lineup.
The new machine replaces the D155AX-8 and has been completely redesigned with a new main frame, track frames, powertrain, cab, and blade system. Komatsu says these upgrades are aimed at improving productivity while lowering total cost of ownership for heavy-duty applications.
According to Komatsu Product Manager Robert Hussey, the D175AX-10 brings major advancements that align it more closely with the company’s larger dozer range, including the D375 and D475. Compared with the previous D155AX-8, the new dozer delivers up to 26% more horsepower, 25% higher hourly material movement, 15% better fuel efficiency, and a 35% tighter turning radius.
Designed for large-scale earthmoving and haul-road maintenance, the D175AX-10 is powered by Komatsu’s 450-horsepower DBA127 off-road engine. The 12.74-liter ERG-less engine is also used in the WA485-11 wheel loader and HM460-6 haul truck, and is intended to improve fuel economy, reduce downtime, and extend service intervals.
The dozer is also equipped with a new four-speed automatic transmission, giving operators better speed control for different jobsite demands. Komatsu has added a dedicated steering pump as well, allowing pivot, power, and spin turns without reducing blade load, which improves maneuverability in applications such as side-cutting and scraper-push work.
A redesigned 13.9-cubic-yard semi-U blade is designed to improve penetration and reduce material resistance, while a full U-blade option will also be available at launch. Supporting the machine’s performance is a new eight-roller track frame and updated undercarriage, built to provide greater durability and ride quality in demanding production environments
