Osaka, Japan – Kubota Corporation., is strengthening its focus on sustainable and cost-efficient agriculture through its investment in UV Boosting, a technology that uses controlled UV-C light to enhance plants’ natural defence systems.

The technology is designed to help farmers reduce reliance on chemical treatments while improving crop quality, yield potential and overall profitability. According to Kubota Spain, UV Boosting works as a preventive treatment by stimulating plants to increase salicylic acid levels, making them more resistant to fungal attacks, drought stress and excess water conditions.

Kubota says the technology is especially suitable for high-value crops such as vineyards, fruit trees, olive groves, pistachios, almonds and turf. It can be mounted on tractors and operated at low power demand, helping reduce fuel consumption and production costs.

For 2026, Kubota is focusing on UV Boosting applications for vineyards, fruit trees and olive groves. The company offers different implement models depending on crop type, with adjustable panels designed to maintain the required working distance from the crop.

The company says field results have shown improved fruit quality, better skin appearance, earlier colour development and higher market value, supporting farmers with both lower input costs and improved margins.
