Bulle, Switzerland – Liebherr-International AG., a construction equipment manufacturer, introduced its new LTM 1090-4.3 mobile crane, showcasing a redesigned model that succeeds the previous LTM 1090-4.2. The new 110-ton crane features the company’s latest LICCON3 control system, along with a refreshed cab design and a range of performance and safety upgrades.
The LTM 1090-4.3 brings a more advanced software platform, a faster data bus, increased memory capacity, and improved overall system performance. It also includes a Bluetooth-enabled mobile operating and display unit as well as standard compatibility with telemetry and fleet management systems.
Powered by a 449-horsepower Liebherr six-cylinder diesel engine, the crane has a telescopic boom extending from 37 feet to 197 feet and an overall length of 43.1 feet. Liebherr retained the flexible four-axle all-rounder design, allowing operation at axle loads of 22,050 pounds, 26,450 pounds, and 35,275 pounds for both road and jobsite use. A quick-change ballast system remains standard, enabling the crane to carry up to 19,400 pounds of counterweight at a 26,450-pound axle load, helping reduce the need for additional ballast transport on many jobs.
A major upgrade on the new model is the redesigned cab, which now includes a multi-function steering wheel, a side roller blind on the driver’s door, and a large touchscreen display for clearer and easier data visualization. Liebherr has also improved the HVAC system in both the driver and operator cabs, with automatic adjustment supported by a sun sensor.
The crane continues to offer fuel-saving and efficiency-focused features such as ECOdrive, ECOmode, VarioBallast, and VarioBase. Liebherr also says its DynamicPerform clutch module helps reduce wear during starting and maneuvering by using an oil-cooled plate pack in the ZF TraXon transmission.
Additional upgrades on the LTM 1090-4.3 include a fully LED-based lighting package for the crane cab, superstructure, rear section, headlights, telescopic boom, and fly jib. Performance has also been improved when the boom is in extended or steep positions, supporting tasks such as tower crane assembly.
For road safety, the crane is equipped with a Blind Spot Information System and a Moving Off Information System. It also comes standard with RemoteDrive, allowing the crane to be operated from outside the cab. Optional features include a central undercarriage lubrication system and a digital tire pressure indicator.
