Ancenis, France - Manitou BF, SA., a heavy equipment manufacturer, has introduced two new models, the MTA 1242 Max and MTA 1242 Max E74, to its construction telehandler lineup. These machines boast increased lifting capacity and a newly redesigned cab, enhancing both performance and operator comfort on the job site.
The MTA 1242 Max is powered by a 127-horsepower Deutz diesel engine, while the MTA 1242 Max E74 model features a 74-horsepower Deutz diesel engine, designed for greater efficiency and lower emissions-related maintenance. Both models are equipped with heavy-duty outriggers, boosting lifting capacity by 2,500 to 4,000 pounds at common mid-range working heights and reach.
The 28,300-pound telehandlers offer a 12,000-pound maximum capacity, a 28-foot 6-inch outreach, and a 42-foot 6-inch lifting height. They reach speeds of up to 22 mph and feature a 1-foot 7-inch ground clearance.
Mr. Steve Kiskunas, Product Manager at Manitou, said, “The MTA 1242 Max exists in one of the most in-demand size classes for construction telehandlers. Added further flexibility in lifting capacity and engine power to meet the needs of various operators. The strength of the outriggers increases that critical mid-range operating capacity, while the 74-horsepower model drives added efficiency without sacrificing any capacity.”
With a redesigned FOPS, the upgraded “SuperView” cab offers 30% more forward visibility. Manitou states that the design eliminates sightline obstructions while maintaining cab integrity, giving operators a clearer view of the work area, load, and attachment - even at height.
Additional features include an automatic five-speed transmission, an automatic parking brake, EasyStep entry, enhanced engine accessibility, and operator-aided pop-ups.
