Pune - Potain India Private Limited., a part of Manitowoc Company and a tower cranes manufacturer, has launched PowerBoost, a new battery pack for its self-erecting cranes that provides greater flexibility on jobsites. The system can be used as a standalone power source or together with the on-site electricity supply.

The new battery solution will first be available for the Potain Igo M 24-19, which was introduced at bauma 2025. Potain said the plug-and-play, maintenance-free system helps deliver faster set-up, easier installation, and more efficient lifting, while also supporting lower emissions.

According to Remi Deporte, Self-Erecting Cranes Product Manager at Manitowoc, PowerBoost offers a quieter and cleaner alternative to diesel generators. It removes fuel transport needs and is suited for sites where noise and air-quality restrictions apply. It can also support crane operation if there is a problem with the local grid supply.

Once connected, PowerBoost can help install and erect the crane and provide up to two working days of power. The unit uses 16 kWh AGM batteries and supports fast charging, reaching 85% capacity from 50% in 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 16 A power supply.

Depending on how it is used, PowerBoost can support an 8-hour workday with 50 load cycles for lifting operations, or complete set-up and tear-down twice on a single charge.

The first Potain Igo M 24-19 with PowerBoost was purchased by Valem, Potain’s dealer in France, and used on a restoration project in Hiers-Brouage for contractor Hory-Chauvelin.
