Grieskirchen, Austria - POTTINGER Landtechnik GmbH., an agricultural machinery company, has enhanced its NOVACAT F 3100 OPTICURVE front mower for the upcoming season by adding an optional Profiline comfort control system.
With this system, the mower automatically steers left and right based on the tractor's turning angle and the slope's inclination. An acceleration sensor mounted directly on the mower supplies the necessary data, while factoring in the tractor’s turning angle signal for improved accuracy. Operators can manage the mower via the tractor’s ISOBUS terminal or a SELECT CONTROL terminal. Hydraulic oil is delivered through a load-sensing or power beyond system, ensuring efficient operation.
The side shift system proves especially effective when working on curves and slopes. It keeps a perfect overlap with the rear mower, ensuring the tractor drives along a clear, forage-free track. The curved motion enables the entire cutter bar to be used, maximizing the working width of the mower combination. Unlike systems with a straight-line side shift, which can leave several centimeters of grass untouched, this design ensures complete coverage.
A key advantage is the mower's ability to detect changes in overlap between the front mower and the tractor or rear mower(s) and adjust automatically. This prevents grass from being driven over and ensures an even cut, even on tight corners or steep terrain. By leaving no uncut crop behind, follow-up harvesting machines can work without disruption. In automatic mode, the system also reduces the driver’s workload, allowing them to concentrate on steering and monitoring field conditions.
Overall, the addition of the Profiline comfort control system makes the NOVACAT F 3100 OPTICURVE even more efficient and user-friendly, particularly for demanding terrain and complex mowing operations.
