New Zealand- Triumph Motorcycles has rolled out two new 400cc models in New Zealand expanding its entry-level lineup with fresh styling themes and a stronger engine tune. The brand confirmed the Thruxton 400 will arrive in dealerships in February 2026, followed by the Tracker 400 in April 2026.
Both motorcycles are powered by an updated version of Triumph’s 398cc TR-Series single-cylinder engine, now producing 42 bhp at 9,000 rpm. Triumph says the revision brings a higher rev limit and improved top-end performance, delivering a 5% increase in peak power while keeping the strong low-end torque that has defined its 400cc platform.
The Tracker 400 becomes Triumph’s first production bike influenced by flat track racing, combining stripped-back attitude with modern components. It uses an upright riding position with wide handlebars and revised footpeg placement for a more aggressive stance, supported by a dedicated chassis and updated suspension geometry aimed at sharper handling.
Design details lean heavily into the dirt-track look, with a flat-track-style fuel tank with knee cut-outs, a fly screen, color-matched seat cowl, number boards, and newly designed wheels wrapped in Pirelli MT60 RS tyres. The package is finished off with Triumph’s round LED headlight, twin upswept exhausts, and exposed engine styling. Colour options include Racing Yellow, Phantom Black, and Aluminium Silver Gloss, each with flat-track-inspired graphics.
Hardware highlights include 43mm USD big-piston forks (140mm travel), a preload-adjustable rear monoshock (130mm travel), four-piston radial front brakes, plus switchable ABS and traction control. Seat height is 805mm, keeping it approachable while still looking purposeful.
Thruxton 400: café racer character in a compact package
The Thruxton 400 brings café racer style into Triumph’s modern classics range, reviving one of the brand’s most recognizable names in a smaller, newer-rider-friendly format. With clip-on handlebars, rear-set footpegs, and a revised chassis, it aims to feel sportier and more focused than the Speed 400.
It features a sculpted fuel tank with the Triumph triangle badge, a new fairing surrounding the round LED headlight, bar-end mirrors, a color-matched bullet-style seat cowl, and a shortened tail for a clean, minimalist profile. The Thruxton runs Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, with suspension tuned for agile handling. Rider aids and features include a ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, a torque-assist clutch, and ABS, integrated to preserve the bike’s classic visual appeal.
Thruxton 400 colour options include Carnival Red, Pearl Metallic White with Storm Grey, Metallic Racing Yellow with Aluminium Silver, and Phantom Black with Aluminium.
