Germany - Honda UK has unveiled a major update for its entry-level commuter, the CB125F, for the 2025 model year—introducing smart engine technology, a new digital dash, and styling inspired by larger bikes. Designed to offer budget-conscious riders an efficient and practical urban motorcycle, the updated CB125F brings new features that raise the bar for the 125cc commuter class.
The most notable addition is the engine start/stop system, making the CB125F the first manual motorcycle from Honda to feature the technology. Already in use on several of Honda’s automatic scooters like the Vision 110 and SH125i, the system automatically shuts off the engine at standstill and restarts it when the rider engages the throttle. This innovation helps maximise fuel efficiency, with Honda claiming a remarkable 188.4 miles per gallon (mpg). That equates to over 450 miles on a single 11-litre tank—enough to travel from London to Leeds and back on around £13 of fuel.
To support the new stop/start system, the battery has been upgraded from 4Ah to 5Ah, ensuring consistent reliability in daily use. The 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine remains unchanged, producing 10.7bhp and 8lb.ft of torque, while now complying with Euro5+ emissions standards. Honda has also included its enhanced Smart Power (eSP) engine technology, which uses low-friction components to reduce wear and improve efficiency.
Complementing the mechanical updates is a new 4.2-inch colour TFT display, which replaces the previous LCD unit. This new screen adds a layer of sophistication and modern connectivity, with Bluetooth integration that enables turn-by-turn navigation, music and call controls, and USB-C charging. A gear position indicator and fuel gauge further boost usability.
Visually, the 2025 CB125F has been given a sharper, more aggressive design to mirror the look of larger capacity models in Honda’s range. The update includes redesigned bodywork, LED lighting front and rear, and a blacked-out exhaust. A centre stand and rear grab rail come as standard, maintaining its practical focus.
The chassis remains familiar, with a steel frame and 18-inch wheels fitted with slim tyres to minimise rolling resistance. Suspension is basic, with twin rear shocks offering five-stage preload adjustment, and braking is handled by Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) for simplified stopping power.
With its high-tech features, modern styling, and unbeatable fuel efficiency, the updated CB125F looks set to continue its reign as one of the most popular choices for urban riders and learners alike.
