Gothenburg, Sweden - Volvo Car AB, a manufacturer of premium luxury vehicles, is enhancing public charging convenience for its electric vehicle customers by expanding access to Tesla Superchargers across Europe and key Asia-Pacific markets.
Starting in the fourth quarter of this year, Volvo EV drivers in Europe will be able to use the Volvo Cars app to charge their fully electric vehicles at more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations.
The expanded access will cover 29 European countries, with a large share of chargers available in major markets such as Germany, France, Norway, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Spain.
Volvo Cars also plans to transition selected models in Japan and South Korea to the North American Charging System by 2029. This move is expected to provide Volvo drivers in these markets with future access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Mr. Alejandro Castro Pérez, Head of Energy Solutions at Volvo Cars, “Volvo drivers already have access to over three million charging points globally through the Volvo app, adding Tesla Superchargers in Europe means they now have even easier access to one of the most recognised fast charging networks. As we accelerate towards full electrification, our goal is to make charging simple and effortless, through a seamless ecosystem. “
Electric Volvo drivers already have access to a wide charging network through the Volvo Cars app, including 120,000 charging points in North America, which also covers Tesla Superchargers, and more than 1.2 million charging points across Europe.
Volvo Cars aims to make EV ownership simpler by creating a more connected, reliable and convenient public charging experience worldwide. The company is also supporting greater charging standardisation and interoperability, especially in markets where industry collaboration can make public charging easier for more electric vehicle drivers.
