Eskilstuna, Sweden - Volvo Construction Equipment., (Volvo CE) has partnered with Unicontrol., a cloud-based software provider for construction, to enhance accessibility and flexibility in 3D machine control technology for excavators. This collaboration aims to simplify integration for contractors, support mixed fleets, and streamline workflows.
The Unicontrol 3D system will debut in select European markets later this year, with global availability planned for the future. Integrated into Volvo CE's Co-Pilot interface, it simplifies machine control. When Co-Pilot is factory-ordered with Dig Assist, operators can activate Unicontrol 3D features without needing additional hardware or monitors.
Mr. Kurt Deleu, Head of Product Management for Excavators at Volvo CE, said, “We are committed to making advanced technology open, accessible, and easy to use. CoPilot is an open platform where we welcome partners to join us in delivering innovative solutions. This allows contractors to avoid vendor lock-in and optimize performance across equipment brands.
Volvo CE's partnership with Unicontrol aligns with its goal of creating a more open, user-centric digital environment. By integrating Unicontrol’s flexible software with Dig Assist, Volvo expands technology options for contractors with diverse fleets. Unicontrol’s 3D machine control is simple, adaptable, and cost-effective, ideal for small to mid-sized contractors looking to digitalize without heavy investment. Its seamless integration reduces the learning curve and minimizes downtime.
This partnership highlights the growing trend of open collaboration between OEMs and tech providers, creating more scalable and future-ready job sites. By merging Volvo CE’s in-cab technology with Unicontrol’s flexible 3D capabilities, the collaboration aims to meet rising demands for efficiency, interoperability, and ease of use in construction technology.
