Osaka, Japan - YANMAR Holding Co., Ltd., an agricultural machinery company, has introduced the CL26, its smallest compact wheel loader, as a prototype model. The company plans to begin customer trials later this year before preparing the machine for market launch.
The new CL26 weighs around 6,000 pounds and is powered by a 44-horsepower diesel engine. It offers a bucket capacity of 0.56 cubic yards. Although Yanmar describes the machine as a compact wheel loader, its size and design also place it close to the small articulated loader category.
The CL26 is smaller than Yanmar’s current smallest wheel loader, the V4-7, which weighs 8,422 pounds and has a 39-horsepower engine with a 0.65-cubic-yard bucket.
Yanmar said the CL26 is a new product concept and remains close to final design, but is still being tested as a prototype. The machine includes features commonly found on larger loaders, including self-leveling capability and multiple auxiliary hydraulic line options.
The loader is aimed at applications such as landscaping, tree care, property maintenance and light construction, where compact size, turf protection and maneuverability are important.
According to Yanmar, demand for smaller articulated loaders is increasing as contractors look for machines that can complement skid steers and perform specific jobs more efficiently. The CL26 is designed to offer strong lifting capability in a smaller footprint, helping users work in confined spaces while reducing ground disturbance.
