Duluth, Georgia - AGCO Corporation., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has expanded its CORE engine lineup with the new CORE80, a six-cylinder 8-liter engine delivering a claimed 330hp and 1,680Nm of torque in its initial tune. This marks the largest engine in the CORE series, designed from the ground up to run on various fuels, ensuring adaptability beyond traditional diesel. AGCO develop the CORE80 and built a new assembly facility at its Finland engine plant.

The CORE80 engine is claimed to deliver 15% more torque and 12% more power compared to the smaller CORE75 model. However, there is some uncertainty surrounding the exact power figures. While the CORE75 is officially rated at 250kW (340hp), AGCO lists the CORE80’s output as 252kW (343hp) in some instances. Yet, if the stated 12% power increase is accurate, the CORE80 should theoretically produce around 280kW (381hp). AGCO has yet to clarify these discrepancies.

One of the standout features of the CORE80 is its innovative engine brake, which is integrated directly into the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). This system delivers up to 90kW of braking power, helping to reduce wear and tear on the mechanical braking components and preventing brake overheating during demanding operations.

Designed specifically as an off-road engine, the CORE80 benefits from a sturdy and robust construction without the strict weight limitations typically applied to road vehicles. It also boasts a simplified design with fewer components and meets Stage V emission standards without requiring exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), enhancing reliability and ease of maintenance.

The engine’s control unit supports over-the-air connectivity for remote diagnostics, monitoring, and software updates, enhancing reliability and easing fleet management.
