Irving, Texas - Caterpillar Inc., a construction and mining equipment manufacturer, has introduced its next-generation articulated trucks - including the Cat 725, 730, 730 EJ and 735 models, featuring smarter designs, automated functions, and enhanced safety and productivity technologies.
The updated cab interior puts all controls within easy reach through a touchscreen, responsive keypad, and integrated jog dial. A new push-to-start system supports up to 50 operator IDs, improving efficiency and preventing unauthorized use. The Cat C13B engine on the 725 model delivers up to 14% more efficiency on Tier IV Final machines, while the new C13 engine powers all models with ratings from 345 to 424 hp, meeting global emission standards including U.S. EPA Tier IV Final and EU Stage V.
Advanced automatic features enhance performance and safety. Traction control prevents wheel slippage, while engine overspeed control and Automatic Retarder Control improve braking and handling. Ground speed and body height limiters support safe operation, and the redesigned dump bodies maximize payload efficiency while minimizing material carryback. Real-time load monitoring and external indicator lights ensure accurate load management.
Safety innovations include dynamic roll protection, stability assist, and the auto wait brake (AWB), which automatically applies brakes during stops and prevents rollback. The Cat 730 EJ’s ejector body allows safe and stable load dispersal on slopes or soft terrain, even in low-clearance areas. Optional radar-based object detection and multiview cameras provide visual and audible alerts for improved operator awareness.
Caterpillar also offers an optional operator coaching system that tracks 14 operating behaviors to improve efficiency, safety, and machine health. Features include animated tutorials, tips on hoisting, cornering, gear selection, and rough-terrain operation, with GPS tracking for fleet managers to monitor performance on-site.
