Date: September 16, 2024Leinfelden- Echterdingen/ Germany- Daimler Truck AG, a manufacturer of commercial vehicles, showcased its commitment to sustainable transport ahead of the IAA Transportation 2024 trade show. The company highlighted decarbonization and digitalization, featuring the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 as its main attraction. This truck, designed for long-distance haulage, aims to cut CO2 emissions significantly, offering a range of 500 kilometers on a single charge, with the potential to exceed 1,000 kilometers per day with intermediate charging during driver breaks.
In a nearly seven-week test run, two eActros 600 prototypes covered over 15,000 kilometers across 22 European countries, demonstrating impressive energy efficiency, averaging 103 kWh per 100 kilometers. Production of the eActros 600 will start in November 2024 at the Mercedes-Benz Wörth plant, with the first customer deliveries expected by year-end. Key components for the electric drive will be supplied by Daimler Truck plants in Mannheim, Kassel, and Gaggenau.
Mr. Martin Daum, CEO Daimler Truck, said, “We already presented our vision for the sustainable transportation of the future years ago. For us, the IAA Transportation 2024 clearly revolves around implementation of that vision. We are supplying battery-electric series vehicles in the quantities required by our customers.”
Ms. Karin Rådström, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck Holding AG, said, “Our eActros 600 is a strong alternative to a diesel truck, thanks to its range of 500 kilometers on one battery charge. With its high energy efficiency, it will be profitable for fleet operators. Now it is imperative for governments, the energy sector and industry to act together to drive forward the expansion of public charging infrastructure.”
Daimler Truck is launching its TruckCharge brand at IAA 2024 to simplify and profitably manage e-mobility for customers. This new initiative includes consulting, infrastructure, and operational support for electric truck charging. Key features include Fleetboard Charge Management, a Charging Card for cashless charging, and financing options.
