Borgo Panigale, Italy – Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., has unveiled the Formula 73, a limited-edition motorcycle inspired by the iconic 750 Super Sport Desmo. The original model was derived from the 750 Imola Desmo that won the 1972 200 Miglia di Imola, ridden by Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari, marking the beginning of Ducati’s success in production-based racing.
The Formula 73 features a silver and aqua green livery inspired by the 1973 model, complemented by a gold stripe on the fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, and billet aluminium components. Designed as a collector-focused Café Racer, the motorcycle combines retro styling with premium detailing.
Powering the Formula 73 is an 803 cc Desmodue L-twin engine producing 73 horsepower and compliant with Euro 5+ emission standards. The exhaust system has been developed in collaboration with Termignoni. The bike also features a steel trellis frame, 17-inch spoked wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, and Ride-by-Wire technology.
The motorcycle is equipped with modern electronic systems including traction control, Cornering ABS, Ducati Quick Shift, and two riding modes. Production is limited to 873 numbered units, with deliveries beginning in Europe before expanding to global markets.
