New Delhi – Escorts Kubota Ltd., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has launched the “South Special” Powertrac Shaurya tractor series, developed specifically for paddy cultivation and waterlogged farming conditions in South India.
The new tractor range is available in the 39 HP to 52 HP segment and includes five variants. According to the company, this marks the first time the Powertrac brand has introduced a tractor series dedicated to rice-growing regions and wetland farming operations.
The Shaurya series has been designed to meet the requirements of major paddy-producing states such as Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, where tractors often operate in muddy and waterlogged fields.
To protect critical components in such conditions, the tractors feature cassette-type sealing at key points, preventing mud and water from entering essential mechanical systems. The machines also include a perforated elevated platform, protected wiring harness routing within the fender channel, and an adjustable anti-slip slider seat, improving operator comfort and safety during long working hours in wet fields.
For field maneuverability, the tractors offer a 3.1-meter turning radius, making them suitable for small and medium-sized paddy fields with narrow ridges. The series is equipped with a fully constant mesh gearbox with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears.
Hydraulic lift capacity ranges from 1600 kg to 2000 kg, depending on the variant, allowing the tractors to operate a variety of farm implements. The machines also feature a double-clutch system, independent PTO lever control, 540/1000 dual PTO, and reverse PTO options to support different paddy cultivation operations.
Mr. Nikhil Nanda, Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota, said, “South India remains a key focus area for the company’s growth strategy, with application-based tractor solutions playing an important role in strengthening its presence in the region.”
