Birmingham, UK - Hi-Spec Engineering., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, has expanded its Kompactor trailer and slurry tanker lineup with the introduction of new hydraulic suspension and electric steering options, both making their public debut at LAMMA 2026.
The key innovation is the FAD Sidra hydraulic axle suspension system, now available across the Kompactor range and showcased on the Hi-Spec 5000 Tri-SR slurry tanker. Designed to enhance stability, ride comfort and overall productivity, the system allows each wheel to operate independently, delivering smoother performance over uneven ground and improved control on slopes.
Unlike conventional suspension systems, the hydraulic setup enables the trailer or tanker to self-stabilise when working on sloping terrain, helping to reduce the risk of roll-over. Improved ride quality also supports higher operating speeds in the field, allowing operators to increase daily output.
The system gives operators the flexibility to raise or lower the chassis as required, while the option to lift the front axle during empty road transport helps minimise tyre wear. More even weight distribution across the axles further contributes to reduced soil compaction and more consistent braking performance.
Alongside the new suspension, Hi-Spec has also introduced an electric steering system as an alternative to forced hydraulic steering. Available on all tandem and tridem axle machines, the electric system delivers comparable steering performance with a simpler, more compact installation.
The setup uses axle-mounted sensors to monitor steering angle and direction of travel, supported by a gyroscope that detects changes in orientation. Control is managed via Isobus from the tractor cab, allowing operators to switch between automatic and manual axle control.
In addition to conventional steering modes, the system offers crab steering to further reduce soil compaction. For enhanced road safety, axle steering is automatically locked out above a pre-set speed, which can be adjusted by the operator.
Together, the new hydraulic suspension and electric steering options are aimed at operators seeking improved stability, efficiency and soil protection from high-capacity trailers and slurry tankers, particularly when working in challenging conditions.
