Hyzon Motors Receives Order for Fuel Cell Trucks

Bolingbrook, IllinoisHyzon Motors., a hydrogen fuel cell system manufacturer, has announced an order for two Fuel Cell Electric Trucks (FCETs) from South San Francisco Scavenger, Inc., a family-owned waste and recycling company. The order includes a refuse collection truck and a Class 8 200kW truck, subject to certain conditions, including the availability of subsidies. This follows successful FCET trials and Hyzon landmark achievement in securing North America's first refuse collection FCET order in October 2024.

Mr. Parker Meeks, Chief Executive Officer at Hyzon, said, "Hyzon's fuel cell technology combines zero-emission performance with the power and reliability needed for demanding applications like refuse collection. We are proud to receive this order from a company that has been keeping community’s cleaner for over a century and look forward to delivering our proven hydrogen-powered technology to meet the operational demands for the South San Francisco Scavenger Company".

Hyzon refuse collection FCET, developed in partnership with New Way Trucks, is North America's first powered by Hyzon hydrogen fuel cell systems. It offers consistent power for at least 125 miles, including 1,300 cart lifts and trips to the transfer station, achieving up to 300% greater fuel efficiency than traditional diesel trucks.

Mr. Doug Button, President of South San Francisco Scavenger, said, "As a company dedicated to sustainability and innovation, we are excited to integrate Hyzon's hydrogen-powered trucks into our fleet. This partnership reflects our commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies that reduce emissions while maintaining the performance standards our community relies upon".
