India showcased a hydrogen-fueled bus to Bhutan's Prime Minister, highlighting India’s aim to lead in green hydrogen for decarbonization and regional cooperation.
Date: October 22, 2024New Delhi- In a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, unveiled the country’s advancements in green hydrogen mobility during a high-profile demonstration. The event showcased a hydrogen-fueled bus developed by IndianOil to the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Shri Tshering Tobgay, and his delegation.
The event was attended by Shri V Satish Kumar, Chairman & Director (Marketing) of IndianOil, alongside other senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, said “India’s strides in green hydrogen are a testament to our commitment to sustainable energy solutions. We are eager to extend our expertise and collaborate with regional partners like Bhutan to pave the way for a cleaner, greener future. With projects about hydrogen blending in natural gas pipelines, localization of electrolyzer-based technologies, and promotion of bio-pathways for green hydrogen production being pursued aggressively, India will be a global champion in the production & exports of H2 & is set to emerge as the Hub for green hydrogen which is deemed as the fuel for future with immense potential in helping India meet it’s decarbonization targets.”
India and Bhutan have reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing green energy solutions during a recent visit by Bhutan's Prime Minister, Shri Tshering Tobgay. The Bhutanese delegation expressed strong interest in adopting green hydrogen mobility, aligning with their sustainability goals. IndianOil, a leader in hydrogen research since 2004, has made significant strides in green hydrogen, from storage to transportation. India's first hydrogen dispensing station is operational in Faridabad, and IndianOil has deployed several hydrogen fuel cell buses, showcasing its leadership in eco-friendly transportation and setting the stage for future green collaborations.
