Sao Paulo, Brazil - Jacto., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, is set to unveil its new Hover 500 two-row sugarcane harvester at the upcoming Agrishow in Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The machine is designed to deliver significantly higher harvesting productivity, with the ability to harvest up to twice as much per hour compared with conventional one-row harvesters.
The Hover 500 features a front-mounted sugarcane cutting and transport system based on a floating platform concept. This design enables more precise cutting, adapts better to varying soil conditions, and follows terrain changes along sugarcane rows more effectively. As a result, it helps reduce stump uprooting, lowers mineral impurities, and supports the long-term productive capacity of the crop.
Unlike conventional harvesters that use exhaust-and-suction cleaning systems, the Hover 500 applies an air-blowing cleaning method. It creates two upward airflow streams, allowing the cane to be cleaned in two stages for improved harvesting quality.
Fuel efficiency is another major highlight. While typical one-row sugarcane harvesters use engines starting from around 350 hp, the Hover 500 operates with a 470 hp engine while harvesting two rows at the same speed as a standard one-row machine. This can reduce fuel consumption by up to 35% per ton of harvested sugarcane.
Jacto has also added other energy-saving solutions, including a mechanical transmission system for the fans and cutter, which is more efficient than conventional systems. The machine’s 2.7-metre track width is designed to align with standard sugarcane row spacing of 1.5 x 1.5 metres and 1.4 x 1.4 metres, as well as the tracks used by trucks and trans-shipment vehicles.
By allowing all equipment to operate on the same tracks, the Hover 500 can reduce compacted field area by up to 60% compared with one-row harvesters, supporting better soil preservation and improved operational efficiency.
