Strafford, Missouri - DEERE & COMPANY., an agricultural machinery manufacturer, is making a major investment in its remanufacturing capabilities with a $13.5 million expansion of its facility in Strafford, Missouri. The 120,000-square-foot addition will enhance operations, support product growth, and allow for earlier collection of core components, positioning the facility for long-term success.

Remanufacturing is the process of restoring used or worn products to like-new condition. This includes disassembling, cleaning, and inspecting each part, known as "core", which can range from engines to electronic displays. Parts that don’t meet John Deere’s standards are scrapped, while key components like seals and bearings are always replaced with new, genuine parts.

The expansion enables John Deere to begin collecting core materials earlier in the process, even before remanufacturing begins for certain engine models. This allows the company to build up inventory and streamline the launch of new reman programs.

The goal is to reuse as much of the original material as possible without compromising on quality. This approach supports sustainability while reducing costs for customers and improving efficiency for dealers.

For customers, remanufactured products offer a reliable, cost-effective alternative to new parts, typically priced up to 30% lower, without sacrificing performance or warranty coverage.

Dealers benefit from significant time savings, especially during ongoing technician shortages. For example, replacing a complete engine with a remanufactured one can save an average of 40 labor hours. This allows dealers to get equipment back in service faster and serve more customers.

John Deere Reman is growing its product lineup with recent additions like motor grader axles, Tier 4 engines, turbos, and engine controllers. In 2024, it launched $20 million in new products, reaching 2,300 unique part numbers. The Strafford expansion reinforces the company’s focus on quality, sustainability, and efficiency for customers and dealers alike.
