Irving, Texas - Joule Capital., Partners, Caterpillar Inc., a construction and mining equipment manufacturer, and Wheeler Machinery Co., a Caterpillar dealer, have announced a strategic agreement to power Joule’s upcoming High Performance Compute Data Center Campus in Utah, set to be the largest single campus in the state and among the most advanced globally.

The project will provide up to four gigawatts of energy to the Intermountain West, incorporating prime power and integrated combined cooling heat and power (CCHP) systems with a purpose-built liquid cooling architecture. The facility will be powered by Caterpillar’s latest G3520K generator sets and supporting equipment, enabling electricity generation while capturing waste heat to cool high-density server systems.

The energy solution will include 1.1 gigawatt hours of grid-forming battery storage and backup generation from diverse fuel sources. Leveraging Caterpillar’s growing U.S.-based manufacturing capacity, the system can be delivered faster than most other generation technologies, providing a vital “speed-to-power” advantage for meeting surging compute demand. Caterpillar and Wheeler will provide ongoing service and support to maintain uptime and availability.

Ms. Melissa Busen, Senior Vice President of Electric Power at Caterpillar, said, “This is a perfect example of how Caterpillar can meet the growing energy demands of AI and modern infrastructure with fast, reliable, integrated solutions.”

Mr. Bryan Campbell, CEO of Wheeler Machinery Co., said, “This alliance brings together engineering excellence, local know-how, and forward-thinking energy design to set a new standard for resilient, future-ready data center infrastructure.”
